Benefits at a Glance

The Group Supplement Life plan provides the option to obtain low cost Group Term Life insurance on employee, spouse and dependent children while employed with Troup County. It is designed to protect you and your family while employed with Troup County. Coverage ends on retirement or termination of employment.

Employees can select between $10,000 and $50,000.
Spouse/Child can select either $5,000 or $10,000.

Policy Features

Includes an Accelerated Death Benefit which allows you to receive up to 75% in the event of a terminal illness. To be a terminal illness, the life expectancy must be no longer than 12 months.

A Premium Waiver provision is included which will allow coverage to be continued without premium payment until age 65 if an employee becomes totally and permanently disabled prior to age 60 and the disability lasts for at least 180 days.

Spouse and Child Supplemental Group Life

If both employee and spouse are employees of Troup County, only one can apply for the Dependent Life coverage. Employee cannot be covered as both an employee and dependent and dependent children cannot be double covered.

Dependent Children can be covered to age 26.

Continuation and Termination

Coverage ends on retirement or termination of the group policy.

Employees may convert their group supplemental life insurance coverage to a whole life individual policy issued by The Standard within 31 days after termination of employment or  retirement.

Employess may also apply for portability provided they are not disabled, have been covered for 12 months, are under age 65 and both apply and pay the first premium within 31 days of your termination date.
