Welcome New Hires

During New Hire Orientation, you will receive a benefit packet that contains details about the benefits available to you while employed with Coweta County Schools.  Benefits information can also be found on this website. Plan Documents, Certificates, rate calculators for life insurance, disability, and other benefit information is available by choosing the links to the left. Benefits included in the Plan are the Section 125 Cafeteria Plan, Medical, Dental, Vision, Cancer, Employer Paid Life Insurance, Optional Group Life Insurance, Individual Life Insurance, Accident Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability and Medical & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts.

Please carefully read the information on each benefit offered before you making your decision.  Changes can only be made during the next Open Enrollment Period unless you have a qualifying event.

Required Actions

  1. In order to enroll in Medical Coverage, you will need to go to https://myshbpga.adp.com/shbp/ and register. The Registration Code is SHBP-GA.  You must enroll within 30 days of your Start Date.If you do not want Medical, you must complete the paper State Health Declination Form and return it to the Benefits Office at Werz Central Office within 15 days of your start date.
  2. All benefits (non-State Health Medical Benefits) are enrolled through the Coweta County Schools Benefits Portal through the online enrollment site.  Important dates were included in your new employee information packet

If First Time User, click “REGISTER AS A NEW USER”
Then enter:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Company Identifier: CowetaCountySchools
  • PIN (Last four digits of SSN)
  • DOB

Click “NEXT” button and follow directions to complete your account setup

Enrollment Cut-off

Cut off will be on/about the 12th of the month prior to your effective date.

Benefits Effective Date

The 1st day of the month following a full working month of employment.

Be sure to Print a copy of your Election Form for your records. Each new hire can access their benefits information and make changes until the cut off date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. You must complete the SHBP declination form and return to the benefits office to decline coverage. Likewise, you must complete the web enrollment form to complete the Beneficiary Designation for the Employer Paid Group Life Insurance provided by Coweta County Schools.

Deductibles and co-pays vary based on the plan selected and the coverage level.  Please refer to the State Health Decision Guide and Summary Plan Description Booklet, located at http://dch.georgia.gov/state-health-benefit-plan-shbp for more details.

Employees who do not complete their New Hire Enrollment  within the time frame, will not be eligible to participate until  Annual Open Enrollment.  Coverage will default to Employer Paid benefits only.  You will lose any Guarantee Issue opportunities for certain benefits.

If elected as a New Hire, you do not have a waiting period for dental services.

Yes, you can elect the coverage at a later Annual Open Enrollment.  However, you will be required to complete an Evidence of Insurability for a medical underwriting decision.

Certain amounts of Group Employee Life Insurance are Guarantee Issue for New Hires, without completing an Evidence of Insurability Form.  Short Term and Long Term Disability are also Guarantee Issue to New Hires.  However, there is a pre-existing condition limitation. Please refer to Long Term Disability  and Short Term Disability for more information .

The Annual Open Enrollment period is in the fall between early October and early November.  Dates are announced by State Health each September.  Open Enrollment changes will be effective January 1st.

Your effective date will be the first of the month following a full calendar month of employment.  Example: Hire date is August 5, payroll deductions will be September 30, and coverage effective October 1.

These benefits are only offered during the Annual Open Enrollment period. You may have some Guarantee Issue or Conditional Guarantee Issue on these benefits during you first Annual Open Enrollment Only.

If you do not have access to a computer or need help, you can utilize a Computer Lab at the Central Office on 167 Werz Industrial Drive.  Please contact the Benefits Office to setup a time to meet. You can also utilize the Central Office Computer Lab after the new hire orientation session.
